Coastal, Ocean and Sediment Transport

Coastal, Ocean and Sediment Transport

The Coastal, Ocean and Sediment Transport (COAST) Research Group is a leading team of coastal engineering researchers in the UK. Members of COAST carry out both fundamental and applied research, funded from both European and National sources. The Group contains recognised specialists in field experimentation, instrument design and laboratory modelling, numerical modelling and theoretical analysis. Research disciplines include:

  • Coastal and estuarine processes
  • Marine Renewable Energy
  • Flood and coastal protection
  • Flood risk
  • Sediment dynamics
  • Morphodynamics
  • Hydrodynamics
  • Overtopping and Wave impacts

The research philosophy of the group is to undertake research that will enhance the future understanding and effective management of the coastal zone.
