The Clinical Neurology Research Group is coordinating a variety of clinical research projects relating to neurodegenerative diseases, including:

The Cannabinoid Use in Progressive Inflammatory brain Disease (CUPID) trial, a randomised controlled trial investigating the use of cannabinoids to slow progression in multiple sclerosis (MS) and involving 500 participants from across the UK.

The South-West Impact of MS (SWIMS) project, a longitudinal study following around 1300 people with MS in Devon and Cornwall providing new information about how MS changes over time, and helping to investigate new ways of conducting treatment trials.

A prestigious 2 million pound NIHR Programme Grant relating to clinical trials methodology in neurodegenerative diseases, the aim of which is to develop new ways of measuring clinical aspects of neurodegenerative diseases and to develop new methods for testing treatments in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease in particular.
